Valais Alps · Cervin – Matterhorn
This lamp reproduces the Matterhorn (Cervin) in the Valais Alps at 4,478 m, from swisstopo's swissALTI3D topographic data. Every ridge, every combe, every valley sits exactly where it belongs: this is not scenery inspired by the mountain — it is the mountain itself, to scale. The lamp is about 15 cm in diameter. The base is pear wood, hand-turned by L'Atelier du Mont, a woodturner in Le Chinaillon. The relief is printed in corn-starch bioplastic (PLA), a plant-based material that diffuses light with a particular softness: lit up, the rock becomes translucent. Backlit by a 5 V LED, the brightness is adjustable, from a dimmed night light to a bedside lamp. It runs on USB — mains adapter included. A one-of-a-kind piece. Each lamp carries its own serial number, engraved on its label. Made in our workshop in Thônes, Haute-Savoie.
