Vercors Traverse in relief: a 27 × 18 cm map carved from a solid block of lime wood after the real terrain (Vercors · Saint-Nizier to Châtillon-en-Diois, France). The route, 80 km and 3,042 m of elevation gain, 4 to 6 days, is laser-engraved onto the milled wood, pass after pass. Each map is milled on request in our workshop in Haute-Savoie: roughing with a flat end mill, a finishing pass that follows every ridge, then the laser for the route. It comes in an A4 frame; the relief rises more than 3 cm out of it.
